One Day Poem Pavilion by Jiyeon Song
Using a vast array of perforations in the surface of the pavilion, sunlight is able to pass through to produce patterns that slowly come together to form legible poems. What’s exciting about this work is that the complex arrangement of holes means that different poems are created depending on the solar calendar. So during the summer months a theme of new-life is seen, but during the winter solstice a theme of reflection and the passing of time is produced. The short poems consist of 5 lines and change every hour as the sun passes over the pavilion. The slow reveal of the message through out the day offers a meditative moment in our hectic lives.
